Is a Taco VT2218 VS pump a waste on a primary loop?

My system is running from an IBC VX150 boiler with a primary and secondary loop. Currently each has a Taco E0015e3 pump, both set to high. One of them has failed and i have a bit of time and wondering since the main pump is on the primary loop if there is any benefit to use a VT2218 type pump or is this wasteful on the primary?

Some boilers have a variable speed pump for the boiler loop, but it is modulate by the boiler control. What advantage do you see to that VT version?
