So if I put the sensor on Tank Sensor intended for an indirect, the boiler fires.

If I put the sensor on System Sensor, it will not fire unless I jumper a Heat Demand

This works fine and gives you access to all the SH parameters mentioned in above posts.

But I would still confirm this on the actual boiler you end up with

Mine is a series 100 boiler, control M9

Don't know why it is sometimes problematic to get info from MFGs. Maybe it is a technical writing issue IDK.

As contractors if you sell and install the same equipment all the time you usually get really good on that specific equipment after a while.

But sometimes small contractors are busy and sell and are exposed to all different kinds of equipment and sometimes they don't get to learn the equipment as well as they might.

The MFGs however work with this equipment day in and day out 5 days a week. You would think even if they came out with a new model boiler that everyone involved in the technical side of the business would be up to speed in a few months.

And MFGs don't change boilers like we change our socks.

@hot_rod That is awesome, thanks. Lochinvar should hire you to update their manuals!

@EBEBRATT-Ed These things are so complex, I bet there's only like 3 engineers at Lochinvar who really understand how this boiler works from top to bottom. They managed to get most of the relevant info put into the manuals, but forgot a few key details like how to initiate a call for heat when using the system sensor. So I can see how a contractor in the field could install 20 of them and still not understand every possible configuration.

Then there's all the peripheral equipment like zone controls, zone valves, mixing valves, buffer tanks, etc. You almost need an engineering degree. The more I see of this high tech stuff, the more amazed I am that we don't all freeze in winter.

I think all mod cons will fire and heat right out of the box

The factory default control settings probably cover the majority of installs

All controls have a quick way to return to factory presets if you ball something up
