How have I never seen this before? I think it would be worthy as a pencil sketch with more emphasis on the boiler and the NBP.
I recognize Garth Hudson, Rick Danko, maybe Ringo Starr, and possibly Todd Rundgren? And Bob, of course.

The boiler on the left is steam. The ones on the right are hot-water. And I think the reel-to-reel is a Revox.

I had full a functioning reel to reel up until 3 years ago; also had some tapes that still played clean.

pretty sure that is either a painting or multiple images layered on top of each other. things like the rivets in what is a cast iron door and square corners to the jacket makes me think painting.

Absolutely a painting. I listen to music all day long and thought I’d seen most everything. The boilers, however convoluted, is art in my opinion.

I think The Basement Tapes were recorded at Big Pink - the house that Rick Danko rented in 1967. It's available as a vacation rental these days. And more to the point, looks to have hot water baseboard heat
