System 2000 oil fired boiler

I have a system 2000 oil fired heating system. I’ve noticed a problem with the hot water supply. A few days ago the temperature outside reached 80F. I turned all of my heat thermostats to 45F (they are the old round Honeywell type). I turned on the central AC. My daughter took her usual long shower and I noticed that on one zone (5)

the baseboard was hot. I checked the boiler lights and the circulator and burner lights were illuminated for hot water. The manifold pipe for zone 5 was hot 1-4 were cold. The images are attached. Zone 5 is for my living room.

    Nobody commented on my post but I figured it out myself…zone valve is stuck open.

    Good sleuthing, @skyline137 !

    A good clue is that the zone output light for zone 5 is off, so it was not open from the control, but mechanically stuck as you determined.

    Hey, some of us work for a living and just come to play here after a shower and spousal stuff and food. Currently fork in left hand, phone in right.

    Glad you found something. You say the zone valve IS stuck open, not WAS. I can see in the pic the lever on the zone 5 zone valve is as far to the right as the others. Meaning "closed".

    You can try raising the thermostat for zone 5. This way if there's something obstructing the valve from fully closing, flow through the valve might free it. Just make sure the burner runs long enough to come out of pre heat and the zone valve opens. You can also manually move the lever to the left and lock it open.

    If that doesn't work, then the valve is bad. If you're handy, order the same zone valve complete. Then just check/clear/clean the valve body and replace the internals only (Drop the pressure to 0 psi first.) Save the head for a spare.

    With those symptoms that would have been my guess, since the boiler shows no activity on zone 5.

    Have you tried looking at the zone valve to see if it got stuck?

    The ball that closes the flow off in the zone valve is probably deteriorated.
