Mystery Hydronic valve controller
In my current house, I have 3 Honeywell “Aquastats” that are the older “box type” valve controllers.
The house I am buying has 6 zones and a train of tiny controllers about the size of sewing spools (see photo).
• Have you seen this style?
• Can you tell me what these are called and who might make them?
I can’t find them anywhere on the Internet.

those actuators are part of the manifold system. there are many manufacturers of hydronic manifolds, most of which use actuators that are proprietary to that manifold design. they all push in a pin in the valve body to actuate the valve but there are many variations on the mounting and the pin.

Thats a Wirsbro manifold. Wirsbro is now owned by Uponor. Urell is the factory rep if your in the Boston area. You can reach out to them for help in getting the correct actuator

Thanks Mattmia2 & PedMex !! Not realizing that they are produced as as a train is probably why I couldn't find them. 😀
That led me here:
On that site, I'm also seeing "GeorgFishher" …

very common. if you need replacements at some point you can use the current style uponor branded telestats. either 2 wire or 4wire, depending on which you have there, and you will need a separate adapter for each one that will be marked "VA33"

On p.108 of Uponor's 2026 catalog:

These are the "modern" actuators that would be mounted on my cast brass Wirsbo manifold.

yeah the ones I linked above. I have only ever used the 4 wire A3023522 with A3019900 VA33 adapter for this particular manifold. you have to use the va33 adapter when replacing actuators on a "Wirsbo" branded brass manifold of that vintage.
