CAN THE PUMP FLOW BE DETERMINED BY THE FLOW TEMP IN AN OUT. I HAVE A DECENT SIZE SYSTEM 10,000 SQ FT 3 COMBI BOILERS EACH ONE ITS OWN SYSTEM. WORKS EXCELLENT LOOKING TO MAKE SURE AS EFFECIENT AS POSSIBLE . 2 SECTIONS 5 LOOPS 500FT 3/4 I SECTION IN MIDDLE 4 LOOPS 3/4 500 FT THANKS DAN

I haven't heard of it. If, so, I wouldn't need a sonic flo meter or a balancing valve that tells me the flow that I can set. But whatda I know.

You can determine flow, in GPM with a pressure gauge across the circulator, steps outlined in Idronics 16, page 29.

I'm not sure knowing the flow would help much in determining efficiency?

There are a number of efficiencies in a hydronic heating system:

Boiler efficiency, amount of fuel used for btu output

Distribution efficiency, electricity consumed to transfer energy from boiler to distribution

The efficiency that has the most to do with fuel cost is building efficiency. A poorly insulated or air leakage drive the energy cost, regardless of how efficient the boiler or pumps are.

An energy audit is the best first step to determining how efficient the structure is.

This involve a blower door test for leakage and an infrared camera scan for insulation condition.

No matter how low I turn the volume on my laptop, I still think that DAN IS SHOUTING AT ME!

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?
