Burnham V7 steam boiler maintenance done
Figured I would share some photos of today's project at the house. New fire chamber for my boiler along with a new pigtail, cleaning the heat exchanger, and a combustion test. I had previously done the tank filter pump strainer and nozzle. I think as far as combustion numbers go that's about as good as it's going to get being that the boiler is close to 30 years old.

Was it really 80° in the basement?

no, I'm not sure where his combustion analyzer takes the ambient temp reading from, it must be fairly close to where the tip of the probe is

@WilliamGwiazdowski , what model low-water cutoff is that? I'm not sure it's approved for steam………….

it's a RB122E, it's been installed for many many years now, I do want to change it to a SafGard 450 down the road a little bit.

Definitely not approved for steam. It says HOT WATER BOILERS right on it.

I am definitely aware of that, that'll be the next thing to do. However I don't think it's something that I need to do immediately. My plumber friend will be coming back probably a couple of times this summer to help me with installing a heat pump water heater as well as replacing the crossover traps with Barnes and Jones Big Mouth crossovers so when he is over here I'll have him give me a hand swapping it out.

Combustion #s are good. Don't know what size nozzle you running but a size smaller or dropping the oil pressure would bring your stack temp down a little. Stack temp is not bad if it was really 80 degrees in the basement.

Ed,
Running a .85 80°B nozzle at 140 psi as specified by Burnham for 1.05 gph. The basement temp normally hovers around 60 to 65 f.

Final confirmation that Adam and I did a good job, Bobby is a very warm happy cat.
