Soooo, I installed 14 combi boilers capable of producing 2.7GPM of hot water. I asked ahead of time "are they like past combi's and will slow the flow to maintain hot water consistently" and the answer is always, of course. Well low and behold they were wrong. So city pressure is 80, internally they have an aerator like on a faucet, but the PSI is pushing through too fast on tub only. so all other fixtures are very happy.

So I thought of Caleffi 127356AF2G5, but I cant find them in stock, I can stop and sweat them all in but the ease of press is very appealing and I dont have to give each unit a 48 hour notice.

The previous boilers were LAARS endurance and they had the brass restrictor that we would sweat in the cold side that made everyone happy.

I was hoping to find something like that, I tried a bell and gossett flow setter, but they work internally like a ball valve which makes them noisy and it restricts a lot of flow.

Im open to suggestions…

    what if you reduced incoming pressure to 60 psi? That miught lower the gpm enough?

    Supplyhouse has a 1/2" version of that 2.5 gpm

    But then you would need to buy 3/4" press tailpieces and nuts. A Y strainer is good to have upstream of these valves also.o

    I will look again, but sadly this isn't like a single complex that all tie into one main. its 8 different locations so for the price and ease, putting 14 of these in may be better

    80 psi is the high side of what codes suggest and also most stress on plumbing components.

    Maybe sell them on that and less water consumption at low water pressure.

    Typically those 127 balance valves are sold in groups, not individually, there are 100's of combinations so they are not typically on the shelf.

    Any Caleffi wholesaler can order them for you. SupplyHouse carries a few common sizes.
