    I was taught to leave the water off. That way you'll know if you have a leak. Continuously adding water is never a good thing.

    There's another cause for increasing pressure, which I'm sure Mr. Wohlfarth, with his long experience, has encountered. That would be a pinhole or leak in a tankless coil or the hydronic heating coil in an indirect water heater. I've experienced both at one time or another. This allows domestic water system pressure-which can be as high as 60 psi-to pressurize the closed hydronic system to the point where the relief valve opens.
