Delayed Ignition Beckett AFII
Looking for some help with delayed ignition as no one in my area has enough experience to troubleshoot. I had a used 4yo lennox furnace installed this year with a Beckett burner. Was working fine and recently started having "puff back" everytime it fires which I believe is due to delayed ignition. Also am noticing a pulsating vibration sound while burner is running which leads me to believe it's a fuel supply issue. Filter has been changed and new nozzle when furnace was installed. I do have a very minor leak in fuel supply line (one drop on floor a day type thing). Could this small leak draw in enough air between cycles or while pump is running to cause my issue? I open bleeder valve on pump and have no air bubbles or froth coming out. Any help would be much appreciated!

were there any adjustments made to the burn recently?

That's the issue, no one will work on it. They all say change to propane and I'm not paying 8-12000$ CAN when I will only be in this house for a couple more years before I build. No adjustments besides weather being much colder. Nozzle was very dirty when the installer changed it out so wondering if maybe the screen on pump is plugged up?

Call your oil supplier for a recommendation of a local oil burner mechanic .. Someone that has worked for a oil company .. Your calling a upsell company, better to sell new ..
The oil leak can suck in air if oil level falls below the leak or if you have overhead lines ..
There was an error rendering this rich post.

It sure sounds like a weak ignition. So it could be a few things The trans former or could be weak, the electrodes could be fouled or way out of adjustment or the air setting could be too high. This is why I asked. Big Ed has the right idea though.

Have you checked the ignition cables? They sometimes pop off while sliding the assembly in. If one ignition cable is on, and the other is able to arc somewhere, it'll do what you're describing.

I agree with @Big Ed_4
Call your oil supplier. They can't sell you oil if the furnace will not run. If they don't do service, they must know someone that works on oil or they wouldn't be selling oil.
They guy that started it up was a hack because he should have tested it with an analyzer.

Called oil supplier they said knew of one guy which I called and he's to busy to come look unless I have no heat. Believe I solved issue by fixing the leak and found gasket on blue site glass leaking. Sealed up and puff back seems to be gone. Closed air shutter more as well as there is a 6" insulated line from outside going into furnace room for combustion air.

@Sask123
Glad its running but you should see if you can have the OB guy swing by and check combustion so it will stay running.

Yes I will be finding someone who knows how to run a combustion test and set it properly.
