Wirsbo Floor Heating

Hi,

I recently moved into a home with this system. It worked but not everywhere so I tried some adjustments and I seem to have made it worse. Can anyone tell me how the valves should be set? I also believe some of the actuators may be defective.

Three of the valve actuators look different from the other three maybe they were replaced. The small valve in the return line I am assuming they are to balance the flow on the different loops. The supply pipe coming into the left of the manifold with the actuators on it looks like the supply from the boiler with the heated water.

The return lines from the loops (with the valves) all tee together and return to the boiler to be reheated.

When the small valves are wide open their handles are in line with the tubing. 90 degrees to the tubing is closes.

What I would suggest it to get an infrared thermometer. You can get them on Amazon for $20. Once you get that I would turn all your thermostats way up and open all the valves wide open and just let it run for a while. Then take the return temps closing the valves that have higer return temps until you get the returns to the same temp. Make small adjustments at a time. This could take several days of a little tweaking to get things balanced.

This assumes you're getting hot water from the boiler and that all the zone valve open on a call for heat.

Supply temp in most cases will vary but probably 120 or so.

The Wirsbo actuators can be replaced with Uponor A3023522 actuators along with the required A3019900 spacer rings. Uponor used to be called Wirsbo.

If that last loop is leaking from the pin valve in the manifold, replacements aren't available. You will have to buy a new manifold.

If you open all those Dahl manual valves, is there a heating problem in some of the rooms?
