Do I need a Water Pressure Gauge or Backflow Preventer?

I have a 1940 home with a 1992 Peerless Hydronic System. I see 2 fill valves that come from the city water, to the boiler. I have no idea why there are 2, or even if both work. Maybe one quit and they put another one on at one time, and just left the old one hooked in? The one on the right of the picture looks newer. The left one has a pipe going into the basement floor, from when the water used to come in that way, so i thought that was the good one, but not sure.

I don't see any water pressure gauge coming out of the fill valve (to the left), nor do I see a backflow preventer, unless that is built into the fill valve. Wouldn't I need those two items?

Also, how do I know if my boiler has a low pressure switch on it?

Also, how can the small water pump keep going all the time, when all of the zones are off? I don't see any smaller pipe lines around the boiler for the water to flow around in, so just wondering…. Just the Extrol Antrol Model 90 expansion tank.

how bout a picture of the boiler showing the 2 lines connecting?

does the boiler make your domestic hot water also?

I believe this is a pressure relief valve, with a discharge line, not a pressure reducing fill valve.

Yes it is code to have a backflow device. Different areas have different requirements for the type.

This combination satisfies most inspectors.
