EK-2000 replacement of super store with built-in heat exchanger
Good day! I have the EK 2000 series and just replaced the super store domestic hot water tank with a new one that has a built in heat exchanger. I removed the EK Heat exchanger that came with the boiler and used with the previous tank, and connected to the feed and return for the old exchanger to the pump and new DHW tank. Just running some tests, first issue is if I shut the valve going into the new tank the boiler expansion valve goes off. So first question, is there a way to close off the piping for the old heat exchanger and connect the new DWH just like another house zone. I'm gathering the old circulator pump to the DWH is too strong which is why my water temp even set at 120 is over 160 degrees. Yes I have to install the unit scalding valve but it still shouldn't get that high. Let me know if anyone has ideas around this, I know I packaged a lot here. Thanks

Thank you for your question, @DonnieR . The System 2000 Frontier is a forced circulation boiler and requires a bypass. If you remove the plate heat exchanger from bypass location, you need to connect the respective hydronic side together, so that flow occurs whenever the burner and boiler circulator are on. Without adequate flow through the bypass, the burner will turn off from high temperature on the operating limit control.
Once the bypass is installed, then you can connect the indirect tank with internal coil as a zone, either using a zone valve or a zone circulator. If you are using a zone circulator, it has to be connected to the inlet side of the boiler circulator (the boiler comes with piping to accept this connection). The 006 bronze circulator has lower head and lower flow (all else being equal) than a 007 circulator.
