Oil Tank Piping Setup

I am in the process of replacing my old oil tank and I was hoping for some advice/confirmation that I was piping things in correctly for the replacement.

The old tank was piped (left to right) plug, guage with arm swinging right, vent tube, fill tube.

I recently purchased a smart oil guage (I'm curious what your experience is with that as well) and will be using all 4 tappings on the top of the tank. My plan is to install tank guage swinging to the right, vent pipe, smart oil guage, fill tube.

I am trying to reuse the old whistle since it is good shape, but if it is worth it to buy the combination whistle/guage instead, leaving the far left tapping plugged, I would consider that as well.

Will the vent whistle interfere with the guage float when full? Is it safe to assume that the anolog guage float will interfere with an accurate reading from the smart guage's sensor? Are there any other issues you can see with this set up?

The way a Scully, combo Ventalarm gauge works is not going to interfere with the whistle.   I have installed literally hundreds of them and have never had an issue with the float interfering with the whistle.

If your smart gauge is the TankRocket, then the tank gauge will have no effect on the oil level in the tank.  The surface of the fuel oil in the tank is what the Tank Rocket is measuring with a radar type signal bouncing from the surface back to the sensor on the TankRocket.  The tank gauge arms will have very little affect on the reading.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

Whatever vent alarm/whistle you install be sure to cut the whistle tube to an appropriate length so as to not short fill the tank during deliveries. For me it was 275 x 44" : 4"-5". 275 x 26" : 2-3". I am sure that some might disagree.

If the existing vent alarm is just a vent alarm, and you plan on using the existing penetration holes to outside, then changing to a combi VA/gauge will throw off the piping.
