How does this work? Mainly my question is there is no isolation going to this tank , Supply is feed directly into it on one side and feeds 3 other lines coming out of the opposite side.. I'm replacing the boiler and keeping the system as is because they have no issues with the system ( fintube upstairs and radiant in the lower level) any advice would be great, thank you

It is just a conventional compression tank. Do you have some better pictures of the piping to it? You have to design the new system to encourage any air bubbles to migrate in to the tank.

I wasn't planning on changing anything but the boiler. Like how so? i was going to just power purge with city pressure. There's a return bleeder hose bib by the boiler. They had to have bleed the air somehow with the current design

I remember seeing a tank on here a while ago where the system water flowed through it. I don't remember the details but the way it was plumbed made sense.

@mattmia2 That's Exactly how this one is, Supply from boiler goes into the tank and out of the tank on the opposite side..

water doesn’t actually flow through the tank, it accepts the additional volume increases the water is heated

So water goes in and out with temperature changes. This is possible with a single connection, like the B&G example above
