Indirect Water Heater not level ?

Hello, I recently had my indirect water heater replaced due to a leak in the internal coil. When the plumber replaced it, he got the same exact unit and used a lot of the same connections etc. But the unit doesn't look perfectly level. It seems stable and not noticable to the naked eye but should I be concerned it's not perfectly plum?

Only if you have OCD. It will work just fine 1/2 a bubble off

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

Hi, I'm not thrilled to see the tank help up on one side with a small block of wood. Looks like something to go wrong in future. I'd rather see a much broader support that couldn't so easily fail and possibly damage the piping. 🤔

Thanks for the feedback, it's got feet that are propping it up. I put the wood there as a precaution so there is something for the tank to sit on if for whatever reason if it were to shift forward etc. I can remove it and it would be the same position. Couldn't fit it on the other end due to the height.

I usually use 4" electrical box covers for shims. They are cheap (at least they used to be)

are the feet adjustable, many are.

With all the copper piping, it may not move much to level it now

Where are you located? Seismic restraints are required by code in many places.

With the large clean-out cover it looks like a European tank

The feet are adjustable but the front ones are at the limit of how high they can go, seems like they had to in order to connect to the system. Composite shims would probably be ideal.

the galvanized box covers are probably a good idea. that is a lot of force on a very small area.

the unlicensed plumbers that installed one of the water heaters at my parents' house used pieces of a viny asbestos tile that came loose.

Is the floor that much out of level where the legs won't do it? It probably doesn't matter now that the piping is holding it in place.

I would like to repeat this:

"Only if you have OCD. It will work just fine 1/2 a bubble off"

Now we all know that @mattmia2, @hot_rod, @EBEBRATT-Ed, and @Larry Weingarten may also suffer from a little OCD, along with @EdTheHeaterMan🤣. Seems that @HVACNUT has a handle on that condition.
