    I keep a Stanley 12 in 1multi tool in the door pouch on the truck. good for pulling slivers or opening packages. On A\C service calls I just go in with a Klein 8 in 1, my Fluke T5-1000, a pair of Klein strippers and a couple of jumper wires in my pocket. For A no heat call I'll add an adjustable wrench. With those few tools I can tell what's going on. I'm too old to be lugging around 100 pounds of tools in a backpack or bucket.

    Swiss Army Camper model. Once saved a lady's life with it. She was in a hotel hallway with three small kids, holding a bottle of wine. She asked if I had a corkscrew. I had that bottle open for her in five seconds. And like others, I have donated several to the TSA.

    I don't use the corkscrew nearly as much as i used to

    I don't remember if it used to have the tiny screwdriver in it and i lost it 20 years ago or if i always wanted to get one for it.

    my pocket screwdriver, I pried with it, unscrewed with it, use the magnet on it. Even could unscrew a torx with it some times. :) Other than that, I loved the Nebo ultra socket set. Had a bunch of different driver tips, mm & sae sockets. I used them alot. Then they stopped making them. Real bummer.

    @tim smith

    Is that the same Nebo that makes flashlights??

    Ed, yes same company. Not always wild about their flashlights but this tool with sockets & tips in a holster was just perfect. Could pretty much open up a triangle tube or Lochinvar boiler with just it except for the extra long torx or phillips you needed to get blower off at back.

    Looks like Amazon still sells them. Edit: Oh, it says unavailable.

    BTW, Tim: Thanks for the tip on using a Sil-Fos stick to clean out Lochinvar HX firetubes. Works great!

    I like the Nebo flashlights I have a couple of them. Battery and rechargeable are both good.

    I carry a little Coastal flashlight, jumpers, cut resistant gloves, and a jack knife box cutter in my pockets. I never come across a situation where I'd need a multi tool and my actual tools were too far away. If we're talking a road trip, I take some tools. We have a multi tool in the junk drawer in the kitchen. Next to the AAA batteries for my flashlight.

    A few times, not often I have gone to a picnic, or something and get there and the relative complains of something not working.

    Of course we went in the car and all my tools are in my truck or at home. The last time was an electric HW heater and with no screwdriver or meter you can't do much. I ended up gutting the plug off and old lamp and using that for a test light.

    Now that I am getting rid of extra tools etc I put together a small tool bag to keep in the car with a cheap $20 meter.
