Condensate drain pipe cleaning on a Weil-Mclain Ultra 105 Series 2 Hot Water Boiler

At the bottom of the boiler there is a U shaped condensate drain pipe and it's filled with white cloudy water with minerals and junk. It comes off easy once the clamps are loosened.

After cleaning it, I read somewhere that I have to put water back in the pipe. My question is: will water flow back into the system automatically once I start it up again? I'm 95% sure that after this I will also have to bleed the air out of the system… Would that be correct?

You don't need to touch the system at all. The drain is not connected to the heat zones.

Series 2 is still going strong? Did you inspect the bottom on the block while working on the drain? The drain, neutralizer, condensate pump if used is part of the annual maintenance.
