Servicing Honeywell Braukmann TRV

Hi all,

I’ve got around 18 Honeywell Braumann V110 series TRV on my radiators. All the valves are relatively new, installed in 2018 and on. The V110 TRV have removable valve seal and the SupplyHouse genie has suggested the purchase of a MT110 Valve Cartridge Changing Tool which allow removal/replacement of valve seal with system pressurized.

Prices range from $500- $1000.  :s

Is this a tool you keep in your inventory?

    @JUGHNE - I’m in Virginia.

How long do these seal typically last? EPDM is pretty resilient material

Wanted to follow-up up on this thread to share a tool tip if you need to loosen or remove the valve seat of a Honeywell V110D TRV.
I bought the MT110 Valve Cartridge Changing Tool from @JUGHNE a couple years ago which works well, however you need to break loose the old valve before removing/replacing with MT110.

The V110D valve requires a 2 prong spanner socket which is no longer available but can be easily made from a 24mm/20mm Clutch Tool Wrench Lock Nut Spanner by grinding off two of the tabs on the 24mm end and tapering the two mating teeth to get good fit. I also cut mine down to remove the 20mm end to ensure proper mating to 1/2” ratchet without an extension.

The base part can be bought from Amazon. Search on “24mm 20mm bipolar clutch tool wrench lock nut spanner”; sold by several suppliers.

PC, glad you finally get to use that tool…..more glad it is not in my shop anymore!

IIRC, I also gave you a bunch of cartridges, mostly used of questionable quality.

If you need more let me know, I will dig thru the boxes.

Hoping they will work for you. You are missing a sunny 45 degree day in NE.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Good to hear from you. Rub it in! It was 17 here yesterday but up to 39 today and gloomy.
I’ve got the old steam trap you gave me sitting on my desk. The honeyvalve bodies valve bodies are all in good shape and are binned up for some future project.
Thats one of your old valves in the picture, used it to get the size and test out the spanner socket. Re the temp cartridges, I’ve tried a couple and found em worth price paid! 😂

How are the boilers in Stuart holding up? Hopefully you are no longer doing late night emergency calls.

Wishing you and yours a great holiday!

Seriously, were there any good ones? I mainly removed them for the brass.

"Working when removed, if not bring it back and I'll give you another"…..this is what the salvage yard says.

The valve bodies all seemed to be fine. Worst case the valve seal may need replace but the ones I’ve examined look good. Wish I’d got before I added the two radiators in my shop a couple years ago!
Re the Thermostatic actuator knobs; I’ve tried on a couple of my rads but no go. I expect there’s some compatibility issue with the newer valves. I’ll test with your old valve bodies sometime and let you know.
Regardless, all well worth the “free to good home” price paid. 😎
