Damaged Beckett air tube
found this in a Burnham PV83S I serviced this week. the condition of the fire box isn't the worst I've seen but the air tube shroud looks like someone beat it with a hammer. the target wall insulation was leaning way into the chamber. I'm assuming the damage to the shroud was cased by heat being reflected back onto the burner. Am I right?
I cleaned it and got the insulation back in place and got the crud out of the air tube.
I was surprised to get reasonable Combustion results, expecting to get impingement on the shroud or at least bad air flow.:
Tstack 456
o2 4.9
CO 15 PPM
Ex Air 28.5
CO2 12.03
Smoke 0
I convinced the owner to let me replace the air tube and and insulation.

Not my first time seeing something like this. Whoever was "maintaining" that boiler was taking the customer's money.

Considering the end of that tube, at first I didn't believe I could get there.

so do you think the dammage to the shroud was caused by heat?
