Any risk from fill cap being left off if no water could get in?
I got a fill up today and noticed the fill cap was left off during the last fill 8 months ago. My oil fill tube is enclosed in a wooden panel on the side of my house, so it's protected from rain falling in.
Extra moisture getting in from the air isn't really a problem since the tank is vented anyway, right?

invest in a jug of 911 or Heet from Tractor Supply, NAPA, Auto Zone, Parts Plus, Farm and Fleet, Menards etc., and treat the amount of fuel in the tank.

And buy a new cap while your at it.

Thanks, I'll add some Heet.
I replaced the cap, it was there, just not on the fill pipe.

That is not on the conversion chart, but since they are carbon based organisms, I would guess they have some BTU value…. Maybe arachnofuel fits somewhere between anthracite and bituminous coal.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?
