Vent Damper Motor Stuck?
Hi everyone!
I’ve been having an issue with the automatic Vent Damper Motor on my WM boiler. Seems to stick and a quick smack allows the motor to turn again. HVAC tech simply disengaged the motor in the open position for now.
I know this solution is temporary and I’m sure not very efficient.
Before investing in a new motor, curious if there is anything that can be done to bring the motor back to life.

Nope. Just replace the motor.

The WM part number is right there. It's the whole assembly, and easier than just the motor.
If you find the CP number (serial number starts with CP), maybe there's warranty on it?

Before you spend over 200 on a WM part look at the Field Controls part number. This one may be a better value. https://www.supplyhouse.com/Utica-Dunkirk-240005933-Vent-Damper-Motor. After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

@HVACNUT That is an old part number, the current part number is 381-800-477 and that is way more $$$$ than the motor only I listed above. WM parts markup is outrageous!!!!

Aside from the housing, is there any benefit to metal versus plastic? Or vice versa?

I'm not sure, That would be a question for Field Tech Support. I would pick the metal one to be sure. They are identical and I know that they fit. It looks like the same motor and control system inside however there may be a slight dimensional difference on the mounting holes.

Mounting dimensions are the same. I've used both.
