Grundfos pump flanges kit , #519601

just purchased this kit. The flanges faces are not machined , just kind of painted black rough cast . Will this seal ok with the included ring gaskets or should I have the faced machined smooth ?

That square ring gasket will seal to the flange surface with no problem as long as the pump is a Grundfos. those gaskets fit in a grove cut into the pump flange.
If you have a different brand pump, then you may need a gasket that fits that brand of pump.
I have also carried this gasket on my truck because it fits just about every pump on the market
