I think you just answered @Alan (California Radiant) Forbes 's question. I've had water leak past the seats where they screw in. It can be a little frustrating. Seal those threads and see if the leak is gone.😎

Also makes it possible to remove them in the future. I have also seen some seat wrenches that put a burr on the seat because they don't fit so well.

it is possible to cross thread seats when you reach in to replace them, that will cause a leak also
