Radiant Heat in Low Heat Loss Basement

Can we get the full benefit of radiant heat installed in a new basement slab with insulation under the concrete, external insulation on the foundation walls to the floor, R-15 on the interior walls? Overall heat loss is 5.18 BTU/Ft. Basement space will have heating and cooling through ducts. Thermostat setpoint will be 70°F. Will a 3-4°F floor temp rise exceed the room loss? TIA for your input.

    You’re on it: at 5 Btu/sqft you’re looking at about a 72 degree floor on the coldest day. In all likelihood, the heat loss might be even less and the floor will be off most of the winter

    If by full benefits you mean warm floors, the answer is no

    Radiant ceilings, walls or panel radiators are options
