HTP PHE130-119S Problem

Changed a blower fan and took care of a few extra issues . I cut out the bad ODS to get heat to the house.Reset the program . Now the hot water heater is blowing off on temperature , 161* top tank . There is a heat exchanger for heat . All zones off and still fires up . The only thing we came up with was the control and board .. The is solar connected , it seems to turn on but it is not adding anything to the tank .

I shut it down for the night .. Any info of this unit and problem ,I would appreciate . This should not have the chance of happening ...

What are some of the extra issues you took care of if they were in fact concerning the Versa Hydro ? Did you choose the right program when resetting the program ? Is it possible you mis programmed something in the 600 or 925 programming or did not understand their wording , it happens .

Maybe just as simple as a bad sensor or PRV .

I was on the phone with tech support and we went though the programs . On no call and showing 161* top tank and 140* bottom tank and burner was firing . The unit uses just the two thermistors .

Try putting a thermometer at the sensor, maybe a bad connection or bad thermistor.

My first thought is the solar is heating the tank by gravity flow but that doesn't explain why it would be firing.

Most or many Tech support folks at HTP will have little or no experience with Versa Hydro . I have to ask if you find it amazing that a water heater would try to fire when the top tank temp is 161* , the unit requires a DHW mixing valve and may be an older unit looking to have top tank at 180* . How old is this unit and again , did the 600 and 925 programming get reset . Did you check High temp safety switch at the TOP side of the tank ? Was there no solar available to draw from and that's why the burner was firing ? Something is missing .

2020 it was installed by the previous owner who was in the solar industry . I was amazed it heat the home with hydro air without a complaint ..

This safety switch can you tell me more , I did not see any ,is it some where in the back ? (I hope not:)

"Temper block " was coming up when I first started it up . The homeowner said it happen before and flipping the switch removes it ..

It's the third sensor nobody told you about , of course it'd be nice if they knew .

These units are really nice tech that unfortunately never sold well because too many think they know what they don't know . Personally for me they have been basically trouble free and really efficient . A shame they're gone , save it for the homeowner
