Anode and T & P

This question is for both homeowners and professionals.
Just curious here but do you ever (or almost ever) replace anodes and t & p's?
I think my tank was new in 2006 or so and this is the first time replacing the t&p. The anode gets replaced every few years because they are very inexpensive.
If you are a professional, do you recommend either of these as cheap insurance?
I obviously have too much time on my hands.

I'd put in a powered anode if I still had a steel tank.

OF COURSE I suggest doing these things!
Doing so can give you a fifty year heater that's safe. I check T&Ps first and if they don't behave, replace them. About 25% fail the test.

What are t & p's?
Bryant 245-8, 430k btu, 2-pipe steam in a 1930s 6-unit 1-story apt building in the NM mountains. 26 radiators 3800sqf

I always suggest it ...no one ever does it...once in a great while...a handy homeowner. I've changed a few over the years, but don't even change my own. T & P valves I test all the time. I try to change them irrespective, every 5 years . Mad dog0

I've backed out many T&Ps to find the tapping & inside of valve nearly blocked with Mineral build up..scary! Mad Dog1

@Mad Dog_2 thanks. We have a 100gal commercial gas water heater and knew to change the anode but not the t&p, guessing it's over-do for testing

Just a suggestion for guzzinerd - if you plan on testing it, plan on replacing it because it will probably start to keep dripping.......

Just like steam trap testing...its great to see em open and close like a little neck clam (2.5 miles from where I sit!), but its more time sensitive to pull the little cover and put in a Tunstall or B&J replacement Capsule!
