Elbow reducer or elbow then reducing coupling

I have two general questions , not what’s easier but to get better results.
1. On your take off if it’s oversized on your header 3 or 4 inch going into two inch. Is it better to use a 3 x 2 tee or a 3 inch tee then a nipple then a reducing coupling?
2. From your headed elbowing to your header is it better to use a 3 to 1-1/2 elbow or use a 3 elbow then a nipple rhen a reducing coupling? Also if using a reducing coupling how long of a nipple?

Steam I’m assuming? If so, is the 1-1/2 the equalizer? Generally I would say 3 x 2 tee, or elbow. To be fair, nipple and coupling are fine ultimately.

It doesn't really matter but reducing with tees or elbows is usually (at least it used to be) less expensive than buying 3 fittings and also less chance of any leaks due to fewer fittings
