Are these boiler run times normal?

Options
I just installed a new Tekmar 279 (with outdoor, condensate, and indoor sensors).

The boiler is running a heating cycle every 2 hours, and 20 minutes. I am just wondering if these times are more typical, or more abnormal.

Thank you!
  • Start Boiler run #1
  • 47 minutes, condensate return (in boiler room) at 180 degrees
  • 30 minutes, heating cycle continues
  • 63 minutes, boiler off
  • Start Boiler run #2

We like the Tekmar 279 and have had good experiences with them. Your system is taking a long time to establish steam, but without seeing and knowing the system, and knowing the ambient conditions that may be normal. Go over your system and check the venting and piping. A control is only as good as the system it controls.

The location of indoor sensors is critical. Unless they are properly placed, the heating will be improper on windy and sunny days, and these are your only input for those conditions.

The only trouble Tekmar equipment ever gave us was power quality weakness. Power flips from the utility and high voltage burned them up and Tekmar wouldn't help. If installed in a location with poor power quality you may want to protect it with a filter.

Thank you for the power filter recommendation! Definitely have some power issues where this is installed and will address.
