Crane National US oil boiler

hello. I am looking for any information on my Crane National US oil fired boiler. The Model number is 70-194. In 1994, we moved into an old farmhouse dating back to 1804. The boiler mentioned above was in the house when we moved in. While it is still in operation the efficiency is hovering at around 72%. 

I am looking for any documentation and parts information to see if it is worth rehabilitation

    606 sq feet of steam, 1124 sq feet of hot water. Maximum firing rate on oil is 1.80 gph.

    There is not much else to know Crane has been out of the boiler business for at least 40 years. I am sure someone could get that boiler to 80% efficiency but it's probably near the end of it's life.

    A picture of the boiler would help. I grew up in a house with a National U.S. boiler; it was designed to fire with coal (either hand or stoker), oil, or gas. It had a National U.S. oil burner, model MB2E, 1725 rpm. Does your boiler have the original burner, and is it a 1725 or 3450 rpm burner?

    I am a homeowner. I had a Crane SunnyDay oil fired hot water boiler once upon a time. I got tired of feeding it. I replaced it 15 years ago with a 3 pass cast iron hot water oil fired boiler. At the time I had a separated oil fired DHW so I was not using the long useless tankless coil in the SunnyDay. The newer boiler is a cold start 85% AFUE with a Becket burner with a .85 nozzle. I cut my oil consumption by 30 percent dropping from over 900 gallons per year to around 600 gallons per year.

    Did you set the boiler to cold start when you abandoned the tankless coil? Not really a fair comparison if you were running it warm start.
