Energy manager shutting down

Does anyone have any experience with a controller just turning off? My EK2000 oil boiler was put in during the 70s. Served us well. But now having an issue where the entire manager control panel just turns off on occasion (every other day). No led lights, inputs or outputs. This shuts off the burner and just allows the boiler to drop in temp (along with dom. hot water tank). Sometimes we can cycle the 120v circuit that feeds the boiler and it turns the comtroller back on. But sometimes it doesnt. I thought maybe the control was bad so we replaced with new, but same issue.  Its like there is some other interlock feature i dont understand. Its not a high limit on an aquastat either. Any thoughts welcome. I’m beginning to think it’s something else in the 120 circuit.

    First we need to clarify what you mean when you say that the controller turns off. The early system managers (Classic Managers) do not have a power light on them and since the boiler is cold start, unless there is a call for heat, nothing will be lit up. Is the burner not starting when there is a call for heat (lights on left side indicate a thermostat calling)?

    Thank you for your question, @bkuhn - Joe let me know that he responded, but without further information, I would suspect a weak 24 VAC transformer that powers the manager, a loose wire, or poor quick connector contact to the manager board edge. The transformer wires connect to A1 and A2 on the quick connector, check these. To improve the quick connector contact, remove it from the manager and squeeze the plastic quick connect at all terminals with flat pliers so the gap just closes; then reconnect it to the manager. Or check/replace the transformer if needed.

    Just an additional fun comment - it's great to hear you going strong with a boiler that is 50 years young...you have likely saved at around 20,000 gallons of fuel to date.
