Getting mixed info with the foundry closing in PA.
Not sure if it is true or not? However, it could take several players out of the game.

I guess they will have to go back to making steel boilers. I remember Burnham used to have some steel boilers. I have also heard that SlantFin is closing the boiler side and that another firm has already purchased the baseboard side of things a few years back.

Burnham still exists, no idea about peerless, slant-fin is (for now) gone with no plans to come back. The slant-fin name will still exist for baseboard, though the baseboard operations were bought by mestek a few years ago.

Take a look at the sheer amount of cast iron that the US boiler manufacturers import from china some time, that may answer your questions about foundry closings

nothing wrong with steel boilers either for water or steam. Used to be very common on steam and think commercial. Cleaver Brooks, Kewanee, Spencer, Dillon, and about a million others made steel for steam
