Dual Flow/Bypass valve for Circa 1900 Home in Juneau Alaska

We are working on a historic remodel on the Hellenthal Mannor in Juneau, Alaska and after refinishing the floors and reinstalling the original cast iron radiators, one of the valves cracked. We are on the hunt for a replacement valve. The only printing on the valve that can be found is "PAT. May 14, 1907". The size of both inputs and output is 1.25" dia. The current models are Brass. Please let me know if anyone out there has anything available or a direction to point our search.

Sincerely, Jeremy

There is a danfoss valve with a lance that can feed it from one end if you need to replace it.

Hi, Can you show us some pictures of the crack? It might be something that can be fixed.

I'll see if we can get a photo and a better description of the problem with the existing valve and get back to you. Thank you for your response.

It looks like you have a lot of options to move the radiator a few inches and rework it either with a valve with a lance and possibly a separate bypass or to just run a return from the other end of the radiator around the back.

Here is a close-up on the threading of the valve. Not only do we have a crack but the threading is messed up. The home settled over the last 100 years in the corner where this valve came up through the floor. We think that when we unthreaded the valve it cross-threaded the valve due to the angle the pipes were at and the weight of the radiator.

The fact that both pieces are cracked almost looks like it froze.

the only way cross threading like that happens is by not cathing the threads right then cranking on it with a wrench. It probably is possoble to still get it started on the right set of threads and get it back together if you are careful and look very carefully to make sure it is going together square before you tighten more. turning backwards and holding it square until you feel it drop in can help you catch the right set of threads.

If you add a conversion "lance" then you could add a TRV or electric actuator and zone that radiator. Here is one I ran 1/2' pex to for a demo.

Hi, That could be brazed up and dressed with a triangular file on the outside and carefully shaped/polished on the inside with a Dremel or similar tool. It will take someone with the skills, and time to do a good job.
