Bell trap best bet?

I have an untrapped floor drain (with the associated stink). I'm thinking of installing a bell trap drain with a push fitting into the existing vertical clay pipe. I was wondering if there were any better solutions I should consider before proceeding to chip up the floor.

I'd be very careful with a compression donut & clay pipe.
Have you considered breaking up the floor and installing a standard p trap & a trap primer? A lot of work, but a permanent, reliable, and long lasting solution......

Either a donut or an external compression fitting. Too much hassle to put in a p trap. Anyone have a link to Fernco dimension drawings? 4"+/- ID to 3" no hub. They do list a 1002-43 for cast to clay (external)

Bell traps are not approved by most codes. You may want to try this...
