Rheem Criterion gas furnance

I have a gas heater , model # RGDG-07NAMGR, my ignitor was broken :62-22868-02. I just replace a new ignitor after market (Climatek ). I put it in and after 1 minute ignitor flame , but broken too many pieces after that. Do you know which brand name is the best for ignitor? What website? Thanks

Look at the brand of the control board, that is probably who rheem bought it from.

Supply House.com probably has it. Any brand of ignitor is somewhat fragile. You don't want to touch the ignitor part that gets hot with you hands or get any grease or oil on it.

This part is available from many places like amazon.com and supplyhouse.co m. The fact that the igniter only worked once in an indication of installer error. It is important not to touch the actual ignition surface of the ignitor. handle only by the wires or the white porcelain insulator. Do not allow it to fall or bump anything or the fragile ignition surface will fail.

There are more durable after-market ignitors that I have had success with. Since I can't stock every OEM ignitor for every heater on the market. These universal HSI ignitors are a great part to have on the truck to make one stop repairs on most heaters.

BUT ... They didn't work on American Standard furnaces. I think the American Standard needed a hotter HSI.
