MAIN VENT Question

I have a one pipe steam. I realized that the front of the house radiators do not heat up properly. I want to replace the main air vent in my basement. How can I install it without being at the end of the pipe without the water hammering noise. I plan on using Groton #1 and Gorton #2. Can anyone please guide me to the process of this? I’d really appreciate it. Attach is the pic of my basement pipe. The one in the picture is a Hoffman 45. 0

If you are getting water hammering at the vent location you should fix that issue before installing the new vent. Check the pitch on all piping with a level and check the radiator pitch as well0

The vent should be higher. However, it doesn't look like you have much room for a Gorton 2 or Bigmouth unless you can open some space between a couple joists in the ceiling.0
