Apparently authorities couldn't find a defect with the furnace and the vehicle still had half a tank and a dead battery. I wonder if the alternator failed or was tampered with in the van which caused it to stall before emptying the tank?

If the problem was from a car you would think the CO levels in the house would still be detectable even after a few days. We are talking tens of thousands of PPM0
