Old Bungalo steam heater.
Gas furnace still working. In Canada
anyone know year or manual?

    Pretty sweet! I bet it likes gas.

    Not steam, the thermometer and pipe mounted control indicate a hot water boiler.
    Looks to be gravity flow with no pump.

    Is there a pressure relief valve somewhere?
    Very important item.

    That valve between the pressure relief valve and the rest of the piping needs to be removed. It’s not allowed by code. If closed, it will isolate the relief valve from the system pressure and can turn the system into a bomb!

    Also the PRV needs a discharge pipe to within 6 inches of the floor, with no valve and no threads on the end of the pipe. Some jurisdictions require that this pipe not be iron or steel, and it must be rated for the maximum expected discharge temperature.

    And with the inspection tags hanging in the background. Maybe the valve was added after inspection.

    You should remove that valve right away, at least make sure that valve is wide open and remove the red handle and hack saw the stem off above the packing nut.

    Hopefully the relief valve is oversized looks like a 3/4" valve on a 1/2" tapping.

    That boiler is about 40% efficient. Time to replace it.

    Hi, The relief valve supply is bushed down on both ends. You might remove both bushings and gate valve and just use a larger pipe directly into the relief, then pipe the discharge down to a safe place. Until the supply to the valve is made bigger, it cannot function at its rated capacity.
