Hi! Larry here from Boston. My vent damper on a gas boiler has been getting stuck on and off for years. It seemed worse than usual this year, so during my lunch break I went out and bought a new vent damper motor. I know I should have checked first but I didn't...the new motor has a harness for the electrical wiring, but my existing motor doesn't have a harness. The wires are in armored cable/metal cable. Should I try to add the harness component (not sure what it's called) to the boiler, or should I cut off the end of the harness and try to wire it directly to the boiler like it is now. Or a third option I suppose is to try to return it for a damper without the harness...any advice appreciated...

If that's a Field or recent-model Effikal damper, the harness plugs into the motor, so just unplug it from the old one and plug it into the new one.

Yep... your right. I just assumed that since it had armored cable that it didn't use a connector. Bad assumption on my part! Thanks though.0
