have ng fired stem 9 section bolier that was losing water took apart and found leak between two of the sections when looking down from the top in between the sections added pepper and fiber block filled back up with water. Started boiler, water surging, added more water, water disapeared came back. Sounded like water was going up through return pipe instead of feed pipe. Been running for 2 days, what is causing the disappearnace of water when the gauge is full?

That sounds like whatever you put in the boiler to try and stop the leak has created enough oil or dirty water to cause the boiler water to surge and the boiler needs to be skimmed to remove the oils on the surface of the water. That patch you did to fix the leak is only temporary anyway. It's probably time to replace the boiler. Once they leak in once place, they will soon leak elsewhere.
