We are trying to figure out if the installation of a new oil burner about 7 months ago is causing our water to smell musty and have a cloudy, aerated appearance during the first few minutes-particularly the hot water. We just started noticing this about a month ago. We just wanted to get an opinion before we call the plumber back. Thx.

Is this a boiler? Oil-fired water heater?

Hello, It would be good to know more about your system/s. How is your hot water made? The cloudy water problem often comes from an overactive anode in a tank type water heater. Musty smells can come from drain line plumbing, often shower drains, when the water is first turned on. Do you get the smell at all taps or only some?
