Wet Base Boilers

We have a customer selling a house with a wet base gas boiler. Inspection shows cracks in ceramic liner. Is this dangerous to use? If so can this liner be replaced.

    @JHCurran

    If it is a wet base the ceramic liner you speek of is just the combustion chamber or target wall. Yes, that can be replaced

    I'm working on getting the make and model. So I assume when I get that I can contact the manufacturer or supplier. My question is does it need to be replaced for safety reason or more so reduce worry because it is cracked.

    Which is why we need make and model. From what you're describing, it sounds like a cast iron oil boiler with a conversion burner. If that's the case, get make and model of the burner as well. Pics are good too.

    You are correct I just found out it is a oil boiler converted to gas. Peerless JO-5L-S sn J0103805-0984 . These are the only pictures I have. None of these look like the burners and I'm not sure if they can get that for me. I will have to send someone over to try to get pictures. Thank you so much for helping us!

    The burner is attached to the bottom of the boiler. You have the burners air tube in the second picture. Need more pictures, from further away. That way we can see the entire boiler.

    The burner looks like either a Midco E20 or DS20, depending on which ignition system it has.

    Also, the cover plate gasket in the third pic is leaking, and needs to be replaced.

    That burner is a poor match for that boiler. If the rest of the boiler is in good shape, I'd change it to a Carlin EZ-Gas.

    Firebox kits are still available for that model.

    Where is this located?

    Lynn Corp will have a chamber kit for the JO. Whether it's worth it or not is another question.
