I change my baseboard cover, to find out the fins are to wide and the cover doesn’t close. Can I trim the fins?

Depends how much you trim them it will reduce the heat output. 1/4" or so is probably fine. I wouldn't cut them more than that.

Might be a whole lot easier to get covers that fit. Also depends on how they are sized compared to the heat load of the room they are in and if that would affect the balance with the rest of the system or if they are controlled separately.

Probably gonna have to cut them one by one. If they get bent and bunched, you'll decrease the output.
    IMO that's no easy task.
Thin gauge. Probably too thin to use wide nose flanging pliers to flatten them out again. Tight spacing doing lateral cuts.
All while the object remains stationary.
    How many feet?
Make sure the shears are super sharp.
    Red, Yellow, or Green shears?
All? I vote none of the above.
Make sure there's plenty of gauze and remember, Direct Pressure.

Do you know the brand of baseboard? Check an end cover. Might be a model number there and search it.
I would try to find a deeper cover first.

What about adding a spacer at the wall to extend the forward face of the cover. hardboard is normally 1/8" thick. Plywood is commonly available in 1/4" - 3/4". At 5/8" or larger you can probably use other trim wood.

That's likely the cleanest and simplest solution.
