and now for something completely different, an IPS swivel washing machine hose

never seen this before. a mini-washing machine that has parallel pipe thread for the connection at machine (only a cold input). the end of that male connection is finished flat and the provided hose is looks virtually identical to a standard washing machine hose with garden hose connections with a flat rubber washer at the base of the female, except the thread on the connections is 3/4" pipe parallel.

so, for now i invested 5 bucks in a solid female hose by 3/4" NPT male. It seems to work well and make up without giving me abject fear that the plastic swivel on the hose will just blow off the brass threads of the male adapter which is tapered, but my preference would be for an adapter on the washing machine end and some kind of floodsafe approach. I know the physical controls have their limits but this is a case where i think one would be appropriate at least as a marginal protection, albeit I've seen photos of some of those hoses where the device separated between the connection and the floor protection device, so i'm letting things be for the moment but seeking the wise counsel here.

Sounds like a Euro hose connection, they differ just enough from the garden hose thread we us here. Sometimes you can double stack hose washers and get the washer hose to seal, but not much thread engagement.

I think T&S Brass and Bronze Works makes that type of fitting for commercial kitchens. This one sounds like a residential version.

Here is an example of a Euro hose valve and connection. A shallow thread and a thin flat washer, some use an O-ring.

I built some metric- US hose adapters to assure leak free connections when purging solar pump stations.

If it was built outside of the US it probably has the Euro straight tread connection.
