Vaillant- there's a name I haven't seen in a while. They disappeared from the States maybe 25 years ago.

I have an old book from 1907 that mentions European installers prefer to bend copper pipe rather than using fittings- looks like that's still a thing there. Go here to see the article from that book:

Thanks for sharing that, very interesting👍
Yup Vaillant are still a very popular boiler manufacturer here in the UK, along with many others.
Our new ‘hot water’ boilers are all condensing, with an optimum ‘supply’ temperature of around 50-60C & a DeltaT of around 20C.
These are basic 2-3 Bedroom homes on Nat Gas.

I’m also currently working on another project with £1.5M homes with Air Source heat pumps, also by Vaillant, with the heat pump being the primary source of Central Heating, with very large radiators & operating at very low surface temperatures.

Seems like air-source heat pumps would be a good match for UK climate. Large radiators and lower supply water temps also a good match.
Not-so-much for northern New England where mfg. are also trying to promote them. Maybe for spring/autumn heat and summer AC. On second thought....Global Warming winters are coming! "Be the first in your neighborhood!"
