Carlin 60200-02 Rev.C Primary Control Amber LED only flashing ON and OFF
Can I use this for a quick fix if I need to just get enough hot water for showers in the AM and not pay for another emergency call tonight? Also can I reconnect the lead while system is energized?

Please don’t do that!
Why should you have to pay for the tech to come out for the same problem you just paid to get corrected?
And call a competent qualified oil burner tech. A person who cleans the cad cell eye, doesn’t carry any standard oil filters cartridges on their truck, is not a professional.

If you take one of the wires off the ff, and it runs, then the flame sensor has a short or is seeing light. But, the control should lock out in about 45 seconds with the wire off. If it keeps running with the wire disconnected, then there is something wrong with the control. Either way, you should not run it like this.

Repeated resets. Cleared from lockout and reset again. That is dangerous. Since the burner fires, theres oil going into the chamber every time you press the reset button. Whether it ignites or not. Shut the boiler off and get a competent tech to completely service and repair the system since it's well overdue as you said. Keep hitting the reset button and you wont need a tech, you'll need the fire department.0

If that control has a 45-second trial for ignition, it no longer meets most Codes, and must be replaced with one having a 15-second TFI.rick in Alaska said:If you take one of the wires off the ff, and it runs, then the flame sensor has a short or is seeing light. Ricks troubleshooting advice is correct. However, I just hate providing a homeowner or any inexperienced person with that type of information because someone will do stuff like that instead of paying for a proper repair.
Then one day, they jump it out, the burner doesn't light, flood the chamber with a gallon of oil. Try it again and it DOES light, and that's all she wrote. There was an error rendering this rich post.
