Steam Air Vent Pushes Air All at Once

Steam 4 foot baseboard on 2nd floor bedroom air vent releases all air at once, not gradually, making a loud whooshing sound. This seems to happen in the early morning when the system is heating from 65 to 68. Air vent is a Varivalve. Any ideas? Thank you.

    That's not what's happening. And baseboard and steam, assuming it's a 1-pipe system, is a bad combination that'll never work well anyway.

    Yes, one pipe system. Half the house has baseboards, some longer. This one is the only that behaves this way.

    Post a picture of that "baseboard" Let's see what you are calling a baseboard and where the vent is. Varivalves are probably the worst vent you can put on a steam system. They vent too fast for a radiator.

    Sounds to me that the main air vent may not be working or undersized. Had the same thing on my one pipe system at my house

    This is the baseboard with the Varivalve to the right. I currently have it 1/3 open since it was mentioned it releases air too quickly. Thanks.
