Hot water tank temperature control

in Oil Heating
I have a oil fired boiler with a zone valve that feeds a coil in a storage tank for domestic hot water. Water is very hot and boiler seems to cycle a lot. I have enclosed a picture of control on tank. I think the way it is sitting temperature is turned all the way up. Would turning dial counter clockwise turn temperature down?

    Yes. That's a Honeywell aquastat...a thermostat for water. It is adjustable by the temperatures listed on the dial.

    No numbers on dial. Am I correct that dial should be turned CCw to lower temperature

    I've never seen a Honeywell aquastat with no numbers on the dial, but if that's the case, I'd assume it's a fixed operating temperature. And if that's the case, it's unacceptable as a domestic hot water control.
    My advice is to swap it out with one of these:

    Are you able to see picture I posted? There is a dial that moves. I’ll play with it going both directions.

    are you sure there are no numbers stamped into that dial?
    and post a picture of that label above the control,
    and of any label from under the control cover if there,
    did you try googling the control model # ?

    Although hard to see, there are temp numbers or lo-med-hi-ouch.
    Sometimes a flashlight shown at an angle helps.
    "Normal" domestic hot water temp is 120° but dont go higher without a mixing valve.
