Strand Bookstore in NYC

Has anyone here been to the Strand bookstore in Manhattan before? I’m planning on staying in NYC for most of the first week of August and plan on spending a good deal of time hunting bookstores.

Has anyone found good trade-related books at the Strand before? They seem to have a good selection of textbooks on orbital mechanics, rockets engines, and astrophysics which are the other subjects I’ll be looking for.

Any other recommended book stores in the area?

Unfortunately the Society was closed the day we were here.

Strand has 18 miles of books. And not a single one of them is about boilers. Got some decent space and math books though.
