6" crevice between new floor and an existing in-floor heated garage slab

Hi there, I'm converting half of garage into a bedroom. The bedroom floor will be 6" higher in order to stay flat as the other indoor space. The garage floor has an existing hydronic radiant heat built in the slab. Because of the 6" crevice, the bedroom floor is not in direct contact with the garage floor. Would this crevice greatly reduce the efficiency of heat transmission? How to remedy this problem? Thanks!

Too much air space for heat to transfer. I'd think you would want the addition on the house zone, not the garage, anyway.

Maybe consider a over the top dry radiant system for that room. or a panel radiator, connected to the home zone.

Then insulate that air space well to limit heat travel downward.

That should choke your radiant floor significantly. Add a radiant to your room or add a radiator.

Thanks to Bob and Roman! Okay, I'll see if I can stop the water from going to the tube for the garage floor, and lay new tube for the bedroom addition.
